Chinese TempleBuilt in 1863, replacing an earlier wooden temple, it served a Chinese community of an estimate 10,000 residents. The Temple is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a California Landmark. There are three chapels; the main temple, "Temple of Many Gods," The Moon Temple (Buddhism), and the Chan Room (Confucianism). In 1968, Tapestry Hall was added to display the extensive tapestries and costumes along with treasured puppets from the Chinese Opera Theatre The Chinese Garden, containing plants originating in China, is a memorial to the original families and is one of the few in the nation open to the public. Each May a Chinese Tea is held here by the Friends of the Parks. Thank You David
